During our vacation in Switzerland, my family and I stumbled upon the ALDI SÜD supermarket in Germany, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. This was my first visit to Germany, and I must say that this supermarket left a positive impression on me.

The range of products available at ALDI SÜD was impressive. We were able to find a variety of items, including delis, toothpaste, fruits, confectionaries, and even a can of beer. The prices were noticeably more affordable compared to Switzerland, making it a great option for budget-conscious travelers like us.

While the strawberries we purchased weren’t as fresh as we would have liked, they were still reasonably good and offered good value for money. It’s always nice to find affordable produce, especially when traveling.

The clerk at the supermarket was friendly and helpful, and what made our interaction even better was his ability to communicate in English. As a non-German speaker, I appreciated his effort to make our shopping experience smooth and convenient. It definitely made us feel welcome in a foreign country.

One thing to note for fellow travelers is to bring Euro currency when shopping at ALDI SÜD. As I was on vacation in Switzerland and primarily using Francs, I had to be reminded of the currency difference. It’s a small inconvenience but worth mentioning to ensure a seamless shopping experience.

Lastly, it was interesting to note that I was asked for identification when purchasing alcohol. As an Asian individual, I’m not sure if my appearance made me appear younger to the German staff. While it was a surprise, I understand that it’s a common practice to ensure compliance with age restrictions, and I appreciate their commitment to responsible sales.

Overall, our visit to ALDI SÜD was a positive experience. It provided us with a wide selection of affordable products, helpful staff, and the convenience of finding everything we needed in one place. I would recommend this supermarket to fellow travelers looking for a cost-effective and convenient shopping option in Germany.

A very big supermarket that contains a wide variety of products. We go there twice a month to get our groceries. The products are great. The fruits and vegetables are fresh and tasty. The staff are friendly and answer all questions. However, every time we go it happens to be very crowded at the cashiers and they only open 2 or 3 cashiers. I hope they open more paying counters so that we don’t have to wait long.

I really adore Aldi. They have so many good things at such good prices. The only thing that is a bit strange is the till system, but it is designed for speed and throughput, which enables the low prices, so I am very happy about that.

I have never in my life been treated so rudely at a store. I don’t know why anyone would give money to a business that cares so little about its customers. The products are cheap, that is the only good thing about Aldi. The selection is limited, the store is poorly organized, and the tellers are so impatient and rude with customers. I will never return to this store and I will tell anyone who asks me why I think this is the last place in the area that they should shop.

Everything you can ask for in an ALDI. I especially like going for the fruits and vegetables. They’re always fresh.

I admire the staff here, because they have to put up with a lot (including not a few impolite customers), but they always remain friendly. Especially Frau Nagel, and the current Azubi, are both very smiley and helpful.

  1. Big chain of stores all over the Germany and some EU countries. Very cheap stuff but quality is good enough. If you about to safe money and to buy smthng simple but good quality then try it. And they always have my favorite chocolate 85% cacao. ☺??

  2. Very Cheap prices for veggies. the choice of products is very poor. But if u’re on a budge or just want to save on food/fruits/veggies, it’s a very good deal: provided they still have something left.

  3. This Aldi is big and bright. It is located next to the train station inside a shopping mall on the underground storey. The products are well ordered and the area is clean. Cashiers are also very fast. It can get a bit crowded on the weekends. I recommend this place.
