Michael Stipe Stands with Palestinians, Appeals for Israeli Ceasefire in Gaza

Prominent celebrity Michael Stipe, along with Adam Lambert, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, and several other top artists, have joined together to sign an open letter urging President Joe Biden and Congress to push for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Palestine.

The open letter, called “The Artists4Ceasefire,” demands that President Joe Biden and Congress work to bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. This letter was sent in an effort to persuade the U.S. government to convince both parties to agree to de-escalate hostilities in the region after weeks of fighting.

In this open letter, Michael Stipe delivered the following message: “Children and families in Gaza have practically run out of food, water, electricity, medicine, and safe access to hospitals, following days of air strikes and cuts to all supply routes. Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel, shutting down electricity, water, and wastewater treatment. Most residents can no longer get drinking water from service providers or household water through pipelines. The humanitarian situation has reached lethal lows, and yet all reports point to further attacks. We ask that, as President of the United States, you and the US Congress call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost.”

Michael Stipe’s participation in signing the Artists4Ceasefire letter shows his concern for Palestinians and indirectly urges Israel to stop its continuous attacks on Gaza that have claimed the lives of thousands of women, children, and elderly people.

This further emphasizes the immense destruction and humanitarian crisis being faced by the people of Gaza. The support for a ceasefire in Gaza by Michael Stipe showcases his sympathy towards the Palestinians who are enduring relentless ground and air attacks by Israel in Gaza, Palestine.
