Celeb Solidarity: Jas Lin Backs Palestinians, Calls for Israeli Ceasefire
Compassion must prevail
Jas Lin, a prominent celebrity, has joined forces with Adam Lambert, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, and several other top artists to sign an open letter urging President Joe Biden and Congress to push for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Palestine.
Known as The Artists4Ceasefire, the open letter demands that President Joe Biden and Congress work towards a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The Artists4Ceasefire open letter was sent to Biden and Congress in an effort to get the U.S. government to mediate and convince both parties to agree to de-escalate hostilities in the region after weeks of fighting.
In the open letter, Jas Lin expresses concern for the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating that children and families have practically run out of essential supplies such as food, water, electricity, medicine, and safe access to hospitals due to days of air strikes and cuts to supply routes. The letter highlights the shutdown of Gaza’s sole power plant, resulting in the lack of electricity, water, and wastewater treatment. The situation has reached lethal levels, and reports indicate the likelihood of further attacks. Jas Lin, along with the other artists, calls for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel to prevent further loss of life.
Jas Lin’s involvement in signing the Artists4Ceasefire letter demonstrates their concern for the Palestinians and indirectly appeals to Israel to halt the continuous airstrikes in Gaza, which have claimed the lives of thousands of women, children, and elderly individuals.
