Used Cars for Sale in Baltimore, MD: A Comprehensive Guide to Finding the Best Deals on Craigslist

Baltimore, Maryland is a vibrant city known for its rich history, charm, and proximity to attractions like the Inner Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay. It is also a great place to find a used car, with a wide selection available on Craigslist. Whether you’re looking for a reliable daily driver, a fuel-efficient hybrid, or a spacious SUV, you’re sure to find something that meets your needs and budget.

To help you navigate the vast world of Craigslist car listings in Baltimore, we have compiled a comprehensive guide with tips, tricks, and essential information to make your car-buying experience as seamless and successful as possible.

1. Start Your Search with a Clear Idea of Your Needs and Budget:

Before you begin browsing Craigslist, take some time to consider your specific needs and budget. Determine what type of car you need, such as a sedan, SUV, or truck. Consider fuel efficiency, safety features, and the overall condition of the vehicle. Set a realistic budget that includes not only the purchase price but also potential maintenance costs, insurance, and taxes.

2. Use Detailed Search Filters to Narrow Down Your Options:

Craigslist offers various search filters to help you refine your results and find cars that match your criteria. Use filters like make, model, year, price, mileage, and location to narrow down your search. Additionally, you can filter by specific features, such as sunroof, leather seats, or navigation system.

3. Read Descriptions Thoroughly and Contact Sellers with Specific Questions:

When you find a car that interests you, take the time to read the description thoroughly. Look for detailed information about the vehicle’s condition, history, and any repairs or modifications made. If you have any specific questions, don’t hesitate to contact the seller via email, phone call, or text message.

4. Schedule a Test Drive and Vehicle Inspection:

Once you have identified a few potential cars, schedule test drives to get a firsthand feel of each vehicle. Pay attention to the car’s handling, acceleration, and overall performance. Inspect the exterior and interior for any signs of damage or wear and tear. If you’re not confident in your mechanical abilities, consider hiring a professional mechanic to conduct a thorough inspection.

5. Negotiate the Price and Terms of the Sale:

When you find the perfect car, it’s time to negotiate the price. Research the fair market value of the vehicle using resources like Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds to ensure you’re getting a fair deal. Be prepared to negotiate both the asking price and any additional fees or charges. Always get everything in writing before finalizing the transaction.

6. Complete the Transaction Safely:

When it’s time to complete the sale, meet the seller in a public place and bring a friend or family member for added security. Exchange the payment and any necessary paperwork, including the title and bill of sale. Make sure the title is clear and that all necessary taxes and fees are paid. If you’re paying with a cashier’s check or wire transfer, ensure the funds have cleared before handing over the keys.

7. Maintain and Care for Your New-to-You Car:

Once you’ve purchased your used car, it’s important to maintain and care for it properly to ensure longevity and safety. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on the vehicle.

By following these tips and conducting thorough research, you can confidently find the perfect used car for your needs and budget on Craigslist in Baltimore, MD. Remember to exercise caution, trust your instincts, and always prioritize safety throughout the car-buying process. Happy hunting!

Baltimore ( BAWL-tim-or, locally: BAWL-dih-MOR or BAWL-mər) is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Maryland. With a population of 585,708 at the 2020 census, it is the 30th-most populous city in the United States. Baltimore was designated an independent city by the Constitution of Maryland in 1851, and today it is the most populous independent city in the nation. As of the 2020 census, the population of the Baltimore metropolitan area was estimated to be 2,838,327, making it the 20th-largest metropolitan area in the country. When combined with the larger Washington metropolitan area, the Washington–Baltimore combined statistical area (CSA) has a 2020 U.S. census population of 9,973,383, the third-largest in the country. The land that is now Baltimore was used as hunting ground by Paleo-Indians. In the early 1600s, the Susquehannock began to hunt there. People from the Province of Maryland established the Port of Baltimore in 1706 to support the tobacco trade with Europe, and established the Town of Baltimore in 1729.
During the American Revolutionary War, the Second Continental Congress, fleeing Philadelphia prior to the city's fall to British troops, moved their deliberations to Henry Fite House on West Baltimore Street from December 20, 1776, to February 27, 1777, permitting Baltimore to serve briefly as the nation's capital before the capital returned to Independence Hall in Philadelphia on March 5, 1777. In the mid-18th century, the first printing press and newspapers were introduced to Baltimore by Nicholas Hasselbach and William Goddard.
The Battle of Baltimore was a pivotal engagement during the War of 1812, culminating in the failed British bombardment of Fort McHenry, during which Francis Scott Key wrote a poem that would become "The Star-Spangled Banner", which was eventually designated as the American national anthem in 1931. During the Pratt Street Riot of 1861, the city was the site of some of the earliest violence associated with the American Civil War.
The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the nation's oldest railroad, was built in 1830 and cemented Baltimore's status as a major transportation hub, giving producers in the Midwest and Appalachia access to the city's port. Baltimore's Inner Harbor was once the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States. In addition, Baltimore was a major manufacturing center. After a decline in major manufacturing, heavy industry, and restructuring of the rail industry, Baltimore has shifted to a service-oriented economy. Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University are the city's top two employers. Baltimore and its surrounding region are home to the headquarters of a number of major organizations and government agencies, including the NAACP, ABET, the National Federation of the Blind, Catholic Relief Services, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, World Relief, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the Social Security Administration. Baltimore is also home to the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball and the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League.
Many of Baltimore's neighborhoods have rich histories. The city is home to some of the earliest National Register Historic Districts in the nation, including Fell's Point, Federal Hill, and Mount Vernon. These were added to the National Register between 1969 and 1971, soon after historic preservation legislation was passed. Baltimore has more public statues and monuments per capita than any other city in the country. Nearly one third of the city's buildings (over 65,000) are designated as historic in the National Register, which is more than any other U.S. city. Baltimore has 66 National Register Historic Districts and 33 local historic districts. The historical records of the government of Baltimore are located at the Baltimore City Archives.

Customer Service, great!! Kizzy & Paul definitely will work to get you into the vehicle of your choice & were successful into getting me into the bad choice of the vehicle I made of a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. I’ve had the car exactly 2 years and 2 months & have been at the shop for issues literally every 3-4 months since. Most recent issue is the entire steering column breaking (no accidents, car wasn’t stolen). My only recommendation is should you utilize US motors, getting the car inspected immediately on your own literally right after driving off the lot.

The customer service that you will get here is great! Kizzy is knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I haven’t owned a car in about 10 years, but yesterday I was able to drive off of their lot with a new one! My fiancee’ has purchased three cars from here and has never been disappointed. Everytime Kizzy and Paul makes it happen. We feel like family whenever we walk in. Kizzy takes her time and explain everything that you need to know and walks you through the process. Buying a car is already a stressful process as is, but the staff at US Motors makes it easy for you. I want to thank you guys for always being patient with us and for the exceptional customer service that you provide. I send anyone that I know who is looking to buy a car here to US Motors. If you are looking for a vehicle, this is the place that will definitely help you and work it out for you. Thanks Kizzy and Paul for all of your help and expertise! We appreciate you guys!

Thank you Mike for going above and beyond getting me into a vehicle with my situation. I am humbly grateful for all you did not to mention the time you spent getting me into a vehicle (2hrs after closing) you never complained and you were extremely patient never pressuring or anything. I did not get the exact vehicle I wanted however Mike made it possible to make sure I did get into a vehicle and for that I’m grateful. a big thank you to Billy who i originally had an appointment with however i was late and i understood he had to move on to his next appointment. Mike displayed nothing but professionalism and understanding throughout the entire process so thanks again for the utmost customer service. If you have or are experiencing hardship situations or just life happenings give them a call if they did it for me they can and will do it for you too. Give them a call book your appointment and I promise you won’t be disappointed . These Gentlemen are the “Truth” FYI I looked at every review and made my own decision to connect with them and I’m glad I did. Blessing to you all.

Got here and before I came I insisted they run my credit or application and they told me they did and that I should come. I ordered Uber for$67 to here just to meet them out for prayers. I waited for over an hour and then they came and started they Normal dealership story of ohh income to debt ratio. You need someone or a heavy down payment. I thought they said no credit? That’s not true they lie. They check credit like any other dealership. So they just deceive you with the all the words they put up there. Don’t believe them. Have good income and excellent credit before going there. I even opted to pay $450 every two weeks and yet they still couldn’t. I left very frustrated after all the assurance they gave me multiple times I asked questions about their program. This is not a place as they put it. They check and process same like a dealership. Won’t advice you go there basing what you see there. All to find a way bring you to their office.

Unfortunately, we only have had a fair experience turning worse. First we were told my boyfriend was pre-approved only to find out that isn’t really true and we were there for hours only to have to put things solely in my name. Then we were told the suv would be ready by 11am tomorrow (being today). We arrive, wait for almost 30 minutes, only to be told it won’t be ready until 3pm because the place got the wrong windshield. I understand things happen but don’t make me wait 30 minutes then tell me to come back. We call just before 3 and they said another 45 minutes. We arrive at 4:15pm and no car. It was almost 6pm by the time we finally left. Now the suv keeps shaking and it was a real pain getting them to fix the issue.

Update: we had to take the suv to thier rude mechanic and take an uber back home after dropping it off, to work this morning, from work to pick it up this afternoon. Around $250 in uber fees! Plus the mechanic ran it for 100 miles worth of gas apparently (according to the miles before the tank is empty). Repair may have been covered but it cost us a fortune! Started all this Monday, now it’s Friday. Hope nothing else happens!

  1. I did not have a very good experience working with Patriot Autos. I had found a car I was interested in online and traveled 2 hours to visit for a test drive. The car had been on the market for a few weeks already. When I got there, the car had not even been inspected so I could not test drive. Although from previous experience with this car, I knew I wanted it. A week later I got a text saying that it was ready to test drive from someone in their shop. I drove back up to see it only to be told that it STILL was not inspected. Weeks later I was told it was inspected again although had to wait due to work. They tried to tease “Oh, our inventory often moves fast.” Well yeah, you had me there already. Four weeks later, I finally got to give it a test drive and purchased it that day.

At the end it did not seem like they were really interested in selling that car to me. They had my interest but did not seem to care or follow up with me in messages and emails. I was also bounced around various people. The person I first met was different than the one I met the second time was different than the people I signed paperwork with. The purchasing was the easy part.

The car was in decent condition. They did seem to change the oil but the air filter was a MESS. It looked more like an overcooked bundt cake. For what it is worth, I would have expected them to have changed that out. It took forever to get the tags. In which case, I had to call them to see if they had arrived. Patriot Autos did not call or email me at all to notify. When I asked, they gave me some silly excuse like they could not? Seriously.

If Patriot Autos has the car you want, go for it. If you are looking for responsive customer service, you will not get it. You have to fight for it.

  2. I can’t say enough good things about Patriot Auto & their employees. Every single person there… From every single hard working car salesman, even the ones that didn’t necessarily help us, but was still very nice (Travis helped us & he was phenomenal, even with a toothache (we all know how that is) he still went above & beyond & was one of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen), to the very beautiful & sweet lady at the front desk & the two in the back, the kind gentleman & the beautiful lady. They all were helpful, sweet, knowledgeable & went above & beyond to help us get what we wanted & I can’t say how much that means to me. Thank you ? everyone at Patriot! I couldn’t be happier. So far, the van is awesome! Plus, I’ve been assured, if anything went wrong, it would be taken care of. You’re definitely in good hands at Patriot. They definitely aren’t the typical car dealership,… They actually care at Patriot & I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before ?
Much love & respect to everyone who helped put us in our new Grand Caravan.

  3. I’ve only had my car since March and my check engine light is already on and my AC is blowing hot air. I called the dealer and was told that I’m on my own because my warranty expired. I haven’t even had my car for a year and I’m already having to get work done on it. Upon reading more reviews I’m now seeing that multiple other people have experienced the same thing. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a vehicle from this place.

  4. I got my vehicle and the next week the maintenance light came on….I also was hearing grinding sounds in my front tires.I am angry I was having any type of issues that fast…but was still happy they came before the 30 days warranty had expired. Then I had to drive all the way from one side of town to Kingsville Maryland to the service shop they scheduled me to go to..just to see what the problems was with the car.
Most of the staff at the dealership was nice..but the manager with all the tatoos and a million piercings that wear black every time I went there has such a nasty attitude..Funny thing about that is she was very nice BEFORE my purchase..I guess that was all a part of the sales gimmick I. feel like the car was a poor choice, and now it’s too late to return it.
