Alan Cumming Stands with Palestinians, Appeals for Israeli Ceasefire in Gaza
Renowned celebrity Alan Cumming, along with Adam Lambert, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, and several other top artists, has signed an open letter urging President Joe Biden and Congress to push for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Palestine.
The open letter, named The Artists4Ceasefire, called on President Biden and Congress to persuade both parties to de-escalate hostilities in the region following weeks of fighting. The Artists4Ceasefire open letter was sent in an effort to get the U.S. government involved in convincing the conflicting parties to agree to a ceasefire.
In the open letter, Alan Cumming passionately expressed his concerns for those affected by the conflict, particularly the children and families in Gaza who are facing a dire humanitarian situation. He highlighted the shortage of food, water, electricity, medicine, and access to hospitals due to days of air strikes and disruption of supply routes. The shutdown of Gaza’s power plant has further worsened the situation, leaving most residents without access to drinking water and basic services. Reports indicate that further attacks are imminent.
Addressing President Biden, Alan Cumming stated, “We ask that, as President of the United States, you and the US Congress call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost.”
Alan Cumming’s participation in signing the Artists4Ceasefire letter demonstrates his concern for the Palestinian people and indirectly appeals for Israel to halt the relentless attacks on Gaza, which have claimed the lives of thousands of women, children, and elderly individuals.

Infrastructure destroyed in besieged Gaza
According to the government media office in Gaza, as of November 22, the destruction faced by Gaza includes 26 out of 33 hospitals in Gaza not functioning, 278,000 homes destroyed, and 311 schools severely damaged. This devastating situation has led to a tremendous loss of life and displacement for the Palestinian people. In light of these circumstances, the support for a ceasefire in Gaza expressed by Alan Cumming demonstrates his sympathy towards the Palestinians who are currently facing relentless aerial and ground attacks by Israel in Gaza, Palestine.
