I would consider this a solid option. Several caveats and observations.

1-you actually enter the car wash from 18th Place, not Montana Avenue (as I write this in October 2023 parts of Montana Avenue are closed so you’ll need to access from Queens Chapel Road.

2-this is NOT a hand car wash-its a machine wash.

3-after you pay for your choice of service you’ll need to step out the car for them to vacuum. You will need to step BACK IN your car to drive it through the wash (and sit in your car the whole time). After your car comes out the other side you’re directed to a parking area and that’s when you STEP OUT AGAIN to pay. That seems like a lot of back and forth for what is supposed to be a full service wash.

They did a decent vacuum job (it’s clearly rushed). They do wash your mats though (basically spray water on them – but that works most times).

In my opinion $20 for a basic full service wash is a lot – you are paying for the labor to prep, then wipe and dry your car once it’s washed though. I might try other car washes in the area, but know this remains a decent option (not outstanding, not horrible).

Love the easy availability. The end phase could be a lot better. My window was really smeared and heavily with wet spots. They could do better in this area.

A Great value for the price. I was in D C for an event & found this car wash close to where I was working. I am a high end car service driver & it is important that my car is clean & presentable when picking up passengers. These fellas definitely helped me do just that. $21 for “The Works” kept my Escalade looking brand new. The staff very friendly & good at what they do.

I love this car wash but now I have to look for another one. when I went 7/31/23 someone took something out my car and I didn’t realize until later that day. I don’t even understand why someone went into my center console anyways.

I live 5 minutes from this joint and over the last 40 years I would use them when I didn’t have time to do it myself whitch over the years became more often. But I have used them for the last time. I have to say this is the worst I’ve ever seen my vehicle look after a wash

They leave spots on your car and say it’s from a tree. I thought the guy didn’t speak English so I went to another individual and tried to explain that one of the spots is bubble gum, and he still said it’s from the tree. I’m not sure if that was what they were taught to say but I use to go every week but they have become lazy.

The first time I just got the basic wash and it was great. The second time I got the max which was 65 bucks and I felt like with Tiff they didn’t do as good of a job as I was expecting. Doesn’t mean I won’t be back. I just won’t pay 65 again

Man service was good , I had a issue with vacuuming she got them to wash the car all over again and personally monitored and sprayed down my dang tires herself to ensure service is good. She is the bomb and she won’t let me tip her. Serious note , good service and not so expensive

    Absolutely Horrific Service!

    Please See Photos.

Wow, where do I start. I have come here in the past and each time had to tell them to please pay close attention to the bottom areas of the car and wheels. I do this because I always come to pick up the car to find it still dirty. They would then clean the identified dirty areas and I would be on my way. This time was way worse than those previous times.

Seems they are too lazy to bend down to get the paint on the areas closest to the ground. Not only that, it seems they just use a brush to quickly try to clean the wheels. The corners of my wheels were all dirty upon pickup. I told Darrell and even showed him, and he brushed it off stating its baked on brake dust. I then took saliva and my finger and showed him it comes off easy. This then disproved his hypothesis. He begrudgingly then told someone to come clean the wheels.

I then proceeded to show him all the areas on the car that still had dirt on them. He had the nerve to tell me that I should have paid for the “Deluxe Detail” instead of “Mini-Detail”. I countered that even the Mini-Detail should at a minimum clean the paint and not leave dirt.

Darrell seems to be the main person there while other detailers keep coming and going. Soo, with Darrell providing horrible service and horrific customer service, I won’t be back.

To make matters worse, when leaving they gave me the ticket to get free parking and told me I am good to go. In the past they put the Key FOB in the car after giving me the free parking paper, so I would have it. Not this time. I drove off and noticed they never put the Car Key Fob in the car, so I had to drive back to get it. They have no Quality Control Check after a car is clean. Even other cars parked next to my car still had dirt on them. When I come here for my next Trader Joe’s food run, I will take photos and upload to show the sloppiness of work done here.

I came here cause it’s close to work. No longer will I be coming here nor bring my other family cars. Such a waste of time.

Phenomenal customer service at Inside Out Express! It was great to see the care that Tim and his team have for a job well done. Upon their own inspection of my vehicle, they noticed a series of minor discrepancies and took significant time and energy to ensure that when my truck left Inside Out Express Car Wash, that it true reflected their standard of quality. They were incredibly professional throughout the entire process. I will definitely use them again! 5-stars!

It’s worth every single penny. Fast and convenient. Top notch service. They conduct a walk around before and after service. They validate your parking and provide text updates when your vehicle is available for pick up. Another plus is their location. If you book an appointment for Sat or Sun, you can visit the outdoor vendors at Eastern Market, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from within steps of the parking garage they are located at. I would highly recommend them, and I’ll definitely be a repeat customer.

Once again, excellent service from start to finish. Tim called me directly when I had to cancel due to a COVID diagnosis and when I rescheduled, he took the time to ensure I selected the appropriate services. I was in and out with no delay and not a hint of dog hair. Highly recommend this team for any car cleaning and detailing needs. The bonus was an engine clean that without Tim’s prompting, I’d have never identified as a need, but now, it’s on my list.

These guys are great, and incredibly thorough. I was honestly shocked as to how thorough.. I brought them an absolute wreck of a car. I have 2 huskys so as you can probably guess, the dog hair was just unbelievable. And to their credit, once they saw how bad it was they immediately said they were gonna need an extra hour, which I appreciated knowing up front. What I also appreciated – while I paid for the dog hair cleaning option when I booked my appointment, they didn’t try to charge me extra when they saw the state of my interior like every other detailer I’ve ever used has done. Huge bonus points there.

And when I came back to pick up my car, their work did not disappoint. My Jeep genuinely looked brand new.

It was already the best detailing job I’ve ever had, but then they asked me if I had an few extra minutes so they do one more round with the vacuum to make sure they got all the dog hair. I’ve never experienced a detail service that truly took pride in their work, but that was obviously the case with Inside Out. I would 100% recommend and I will be going back every month.

Protecting Your Car’s Paint After Washing

Once you have washed your car, it is important to take steps to protect its paint and keep it looking pristine for as long as possible. Here are some tips on how to protect your car’s paint after washing:

  • Apply a Coat of Wax: Waxing your car is one of the most effective ways to protect its paint. It creates a barrier that shields the paint from dirt, debris, and UV rays. Use a high-quality carnauba wax or synthetic wax and apply it following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Use Paint Sealant: Paint sealants provide long-lasting protection for your car’s paint. They typically last longer than wax and can withstand harsh weather conditions. Apply the sealant after washing and drying your car, and follow the instructions provided.
  • Invest in a Clear Bra: A clear bra is a protective film that can be applied to the front of your car, particularly areas prone to stone chips and scratches. It is transparent and does not affect the appearance of your vehicle. Clear bras are a great investment if you want extra protection for your paint.
  • Regularly Wash and Dry Your Car: Regular washing is essential for maintaining your car’s paint. Keeping your car clean prevents dirt, grime, and contaminants from damaging the paint. Use a gentle car wash soap, microfiber wash mitts, and drying towels specifically designed for automotive use.
  • Avoid Parking in Direct Sunlight: UV rays from the sun can fade and damage your car’s paint over time. Whenever possible, park your car in a shaded area or use a car cover to protect it from the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Be Mindful of Your Surroundings: Avoid parking near trees, bushes, or areas where birds tend to perch. Bird droppings, tree sap, and pollen can quickly damage your car’s paint. If your car gets stained, clean the affected area promptly to minimize any potential damage.

By following these tips, you can protect your car’s paint after washing and ensure it stays in excellent condition for years to come.

  1. I feel like half of the reviews are people wanting to show off their cars or trucks.

Jokes aside it’s one of a few self serve washes nearby that I use often. Depending how in depth you wanna go for washing your vehicle it can be $3-$10 (if you really wanna do the full rinse, soap, scrub, rinse, and wax)

Hand washing is “discouraged” when busy to help the line go (just go when it’s less busy) along with hand drying in the bays (there is parking available just on the other side)

    In summary:
For $5 if you go when it’s not busy you’re getting a quality wash and dry.

  2. God-awful customer service! I spent $5 on five tokens and once I start the machine the pre-soak option doesn’t work and there’s no soap coming out of the high pressure SOAP nozzle. When I notify the owner of this he spends 5 minutes testing the machine. After that he comes back and tells me I should have known to try the foam brush. Since I normally hand wash my vehicle because I don’t want a dirty brush scratching my paint, the foam brush does me no good. Then the guy decides to argue with me for 5 minutes about how I should have known that the phone brush is the only way to get soap and also how I should have come to him right away instead of just giving me the five tokens that I paid for so I could use a different machine that actually has soap. It’s not my fault that he’s running a shoddy business that basically stealing money from customers because they don’t want to invest in proper equipment. I would say I’m not too surprised since about 90% of these self-service car washes are actually scams with broken machines that don’t actually give you what you pay for. This guy has no common sense. Why would I drive all night from out of state just to scam him for some high pressure water?

  3. Used to be the spot back in the day now just run down. Sam was the man when it came to customer service. Knock on the door and he would try to fox Al sorts of problems from machine not working to making change. Now it’s not the same. No customer service no help when machines break down or when you don’t have change. They don’t take change. Literally asked the guy for a token if I gave him quarters and he told me no. So I went down the street and gave them my quarters. Sad to say that was my last time at Sams!!

  4. Good self serve vacuum & car wash. Difficult to find self serve car wash places in the area but this has good washing modes and strong vacuums. Busy on weekends, machines take tokens you can get for cash or card, $1 for 1 token. Also has an area where you can park your car to dry it/detail (with your own materials).

  5. Good average place to wash your car. Soap should be added at all times to bays. Lacking sosp and you find out after you deposit the money. They guy is not that friendly.
